The “Team Parkwall” Sportshall Athletics team loved their competition at Downend Sports Centre today!
We competed against five other small schools and managed to win a few races on the track with the girls relay teams excelling – the team consisting of Stevie, Phoebe, Lexi, Lily and Oaklea!
They also took to the field events like ducks to water with Shae and Skye both pushing the top scores in the chest push, along with Oaklea and Lexi smashing the jumping.
Camron, Harry, Fletch, McKenzie and Dan all did extremely well in the speed bounce and javelin events too.
We are waiting on the official results but Team Parkwall performed and conducted themselves impeccably. To put the icing on the cake, Mr Bickle and Mr Davis took home the gold and silver medal respectively in the teacher’s javelin event!
DODGEBALL competition result:
Typically one of the kids’ favourite competition of the year, it certainly didn’t disappoint!
Beacon Rise – WIN
Our Lady of Lourdes – DRAW
Wick – LOST
We qualified as runners up which led us into a quarter finals vs Bromley Heath (who won all their matches). Team Parkwall found form though and won 2-1 leading to a semi final against Courtenay. An incredible semi final found us in a sudden death situation where we unfortunately lost out.
We officially finished 3rd and now await anxiously whether that could be enough to us to the level 3 games at UWE. All in all, what a team effort and fantastic to see so many different faces excelling at representing our wonderful school!
Nia, Ava and Vineeth – awesome dodging
Lily and Hans – incredible catching
Harrison and Oliver – rocket arms
Shae – number 1 supporter (mainly eating all comp aha)
To round off the event, we felt like otters by the time we got in the car as a 20 second dash through the hardest rain shower ever got us drenched!!! The Great British weather hey!
A fantastic day of cricket sessions from Gloucestershire CC yesterday! Here is a picture of our year sixes getting stuck in to some cricket on a crisp November morning!
The coaches were so impressed with every class and how they got stuck in to the learning. They even went as far as saying it was one of the best sessions they’ve had all year! Well done Parkwall.
On another note, the Team Parkwall football team made the very short journey tonight to play Barrs Court. The final result finished 4-0 to Barrs Court but it was one of our best performances. Some incredible tackles, blocks, and covering for each other – a superb team effort and always supported each other!
Special mention to Daniel O and Alfie B who played their first match for the school team and it was great to see them get stuck in.
Player of the match: Harry A for countless saves!
No photo as it was pitch-black by the time we finished and Mr Bickle’s fingers had frozen!
Key Stage 1 Striking festival up next on Monday!
FOOTBALL MATCH V CHERRY GARDENS
After losing very heavily in their first football match two weeks ago, the smile on these faces today made it all worth it!
The resilience and team togetherness has been so good and they deserved their 3-0 victory over Cherry Garden Primary today. Immensely proud.
Goals from Shae, Fletch and McKenzie.
Man of the match: Dan
A wise person once said “You never lose, you only ever learn!”
Tag Rugby Round 2 League Result: (on what was a verrrrry cold November evening!)
Parkwall 3 Park 2
Parkwall 5 Mangoes 5
Parkwall 2 Barrs Court B 1
We qualified second in the group (joint top but with less tries) and then played two further matches to see who gets extra points:
Parkwall 1 Bromley Heath 3
Parkwall 2 Staple Hill 3
A fantastic performance all round and will no doubt see us move up the overall league standings! I hope all of the kids have thawed out – it was even too cold for an obligatory picture!
Wow – what a proud day for Team Parkwall at Dings RFC!
The big annual tag rugby competition took place today and it did not disappoint. An amazing venue and the kids loved it … it was topped off by being called out of the tunnel on speaker for making the finals!
After winning our group, we won on a golden try in the QF vs St Stephens where we then met our friendly rivals at the Park managed by Mr Jelf! Another game which went to a golden try where the Park came out on top! Both teams were showcased in the final two matches where we ended up 4th and Team Park ended runners up! Incredible effort.
