On Friday the 18th of October, the year 6 team from across the federation travelled to London for a school trip and it was an early start for the pupils as the coach left at 7am! Luckily, they all made it in and we safely arrived at St.Katherine’s Docks for 11am, ready to board our boat down the Thames to see all of the amazing landmarks of London. With our themed learning being “What is Home?”, this trip offered an insight in to our country’s capital city where the contrast in other people’s homes was stark. Outside Westminster Tube Station, the children witnessed some homeless living standards and some pupils even offered loose change or a drink to them. We then moved down through Downing Street and in to Horse Guard’s Parade, before having lunch in St. James’ Park. We finally proceeded to Buckingham Palace where we were able to see first hand where the Queen lives and the children were amazed at the enormity of the palace. To finish a great trip off, we strolled back up to Trafalgar Square where the coach picked us up.
