Physical Education
Curriculum intent
Our PE curriculum helps every child enjoy being active, learn new skills, and feel confident in sport. We want pupils to build healthy habits, work well with others, and understand why exercise is important. We use the GetSet4PE scheme, which gives us a clear lesson structure and helps children learn skills in small, easy steps. PE lessons are calm, safe, and welcoming, with inclusive activities that help all children take part.
We make sure every child has the same chances to join in, no matter their background or ability. Some pupils may have extra support or adaptations so they can succeed. Specialist sports coaches and local partners help us offer clubs, festivals, and friendly competitions. Our aim is simple: every child should enjoy being active now, feel proud of their progress, and build confidence for life.

How can families support at home?
Families can help children enjoy PE and stay active by encouraging regular movement at home. This can be very simple: walking to school, playing in the park, riding a bike, or dancing in the living room. These small activities help children build confidence and healthy habits. Talking positively about being active and celebrating small achievements also supports children’s motivation.
Families can help children remember their learning by asking them to show a PE skill, such as a balance, a throw, or a short sequence. Making sure children have the right PE kit and feel ready for lessons also helps them take part confidently.
