Attendance and Absence

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

At Parkwall we want our children to have a great education and the building blocks for this begin with children coming to school every day.

If children miss school regularly they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in later life.

In conjunction with our welfare officer Steve Gozra, we monitor every pupil’s attendance carefully. The target for every child is 95% plus. Good attendance is celebrated and rewarded. If attendance drops below 95% we will work with you to explore the reasons and see how best you can be supported.

No holidays in term time are authorised and any holidays exceeding 10 sessions (i.e. 5 days) will most likely incur a fixed penalty fine.

For full details about Attendance please refer to our Attendance Policy.

It is important that children arrive at school on time so they don’t miss out on some important learning. Even arriving 15 minutes late each day is equivalent to 1 ¼ hours a week which over a school year is the same as missing nearly three weeks of school!!

Children are welcome to come to school from 8.30am. Children can come into school at 8.45 unless attending Breakfast Club which start at 8am. Children who arrive after 8.55am will need to go to the school office and will be recorded as late.

We write to parents of children who are consistently late and may refer them to the Education Welfare Service.
