Equality Through Our Curriculum

Equality and diversity are woven throughout our curriculum and wider school life. Through PSHE, Relationships and Health Education, RE, assemblies, reading, history and the wider curriculum, pupils have opportunities to learn about different people, communities, cultures and experiences.

Children learn about the protected characteristics in an age-appropriate way and are taught the importance of treating everyone with dignity and respect.

We carefully consider the books, resources, images and examples children encounter so that pupils can both see themselves represented and learn about people whose lives and experiences may be different from their own.

Creating a Sense of Belonging

We want every child at The Park and Parkwall Federation to feel safe, included and proud to be part of our community.

We actively promote positive relationships and challenge stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination. Where concerns arise, they are taken seriously, investigated and followed up appropriately.

Our pupils are encouraged to be curious, respectful and confident in talking about difference. We want them to leave The Park and Parkwall Federation understanding that everyone is equal in value, while recognising and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
