My name is Gerry Woodruff and I would like to introduce myself as the Family Link Worker for Parkwall School. One of my roles is to provide help and support to families of our school.
If you are a new parent /carer you may not be as familiar with school life and procedures as others. However, I am happy to meet with you to discuss any questions or issues you may have about your child settling into school or any other queries that you may have.
One of my other roles is as a ‘Higher Level Teaching Assistant’ , a role in which I support the learning and well –being of all children in our school.
We warmly welcome you into our school and should you wish to meet with me please do not hesitate to contact the school office to arrange a suitable time.
As a school we actively encourage the involvement of parents, carers, grandparents and other family members in the children’s learning and well-being. We also work closely with the local and wider community which has obvious benefits to the children.
We regularly hold coffee mornings to enable ‘Parents Voice’ to be heard and to provide opportunities for visitors to the school to meet parents: School nurse, Library staff, Children’s centre, Juice Community Project and many more. Staff are always keen to supply delicious ‘Home Made Cakes’ and everyone is welcome, grandparents included. Following this we warmly invite parents and families to join in our Celebration Assembly where we celebrate great learning with our children.
During the school year we hold various ‘Family Fun’ activities after school which I strongly believe helps to increase parental involvement in their children’s learning.
